house looked in 1892 after it had been modified by
Herman Volkenand
who purchased the house from the estate of Charles Edgar in 1887. The house was built between 1840 and 1845 as a greek revival style two section mansion. The mansard roof, italianate window trim and bay section were added by Herman Volkenand.
